ARTIST STATEMENT
I’m an artist who moves through feelings. My work often begins from a place, wherein I don’t have words for. It may be a restlessness, a memory, a shift inside the body and mind or maybe in the silence of nothingness. I’ve never been drawn to neat outcomes or final answers; I work to understand, to sit with situations, to process what’s churning within me and passes through me. It’s slow and often very quiet. Sometimes it’s heavy, sometimes light.
Over a span of my journey, over the years I’ve found that observation, of myself, of the spaces I move through that has become the centre of my practice. It’s not only about the medium and more about how I respond. I tend to notice things which are tender, in-between and overlooked. That’s where I find my language.
My art helps me hold on to what I’m feeling — to sit with it, understand it, and let it emerge however it wants to.
